A Brief History of ECCS

The Soil of Change…

In 2000, God planted a seed in the hearts and minds of a handful of families—a vision for what their children’s education could be. By His grace, that seed took root, their dreams became a reality, and that vision was realized. Evangel Classical Christian School began educating and nurturing 53 students that first year. And the vision grew.

In the spring of 2008, teachers, staff, and community leaders came together to celebrate as we broke ground for the new classroom and library addition. In October of 2008, God sent the harvest–the addition was complete, and another fruit of that seed, first planted in 2000, was realized. The debt on the building was retired in the summer of 2015, and now we are looking forward to what additional growth to our facility the Lord has planned for us. This building is a testament to God, the Great Gardener, who so faithfully watered, pruned, and cultivated a once tender sprout. Now in its place stands a firmly grounded tree.

Like a growing tree, we continue bear fruit. As we deepen our roots, we continue to develop leaders who are being equipped to transform our culture for Christ, students who are taught every subject from a Christian world view and who are equipped academically to succeed. In 2010 we graduated our first nine seniors.  Since then, we have graduated 78 students, who together have been offered over nine million dollars in scholarships!  The cumulative ACT average of our 78 graduates is 27, and the Class of 2016 currently has an ACT average of 28.4.  Of those 78 graduates, one named National Merit Hispanic Achievement winner, four were named National Merit Commended Scholars, and six were named National Merit Finalists.  The Class of 2016 has one Commended Scholar and one National Merit Semi-Finalist.

From a Mere Seed…

ECCS began as an idea in the late 1990s and has grown steadily since its inception. From a small group of parents who desired excellent Christian education founded upon a biblical worldview to a body of over 360 students, God’s hand has been evident. As Evangel Classical Christian School has grown over the last 16 years, and as our program has experienced many blessings, our goal has remained the same:

“We aim to teach children to think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding; to reason persuasively and articulate precisely; to evaluate their entire range of experience in the light of the Scriptures; and to do so with eagerness and joyful submission to God.”

Deeper Roots…

Evangel Classical Christian School is steadfastly Christian and distinctively classical. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated each day in the lives of the teachers, administrators, and support staff who devote themselves to the education of our growing student body.

By God’s grace, our school has grown since its inception in 2000 from 53 students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade to a full Kindergarten through 12th Grade school program with an excellent, proven college-preparatory program. Additionally students have access to a competitive athletic program through the Evangel Christian homeschool, as well as a growing fine arts program.  If you are looking for a different education for your children than you had or that you see being offered elsewhere, come visit us at ECCS and learn more about where we have been, who we are, and where we are growing.
